His son Robert, heir apparent of Fischer Morrow, lacks the aggressiveness and killer instinct that many believe to be the reason for his father's. sucess. [sic] Shareholders of Fischer Morrow are starting to let their stocks go in anticipation of Maurice's eminent death as his failing health has left him wheelchair-bound since April of this year. In a recent interview, Robert Fischer attempted to restore the shareholders [sic] confidence by proposing a restructuring of internal company framework, but if stock prices are any indication of the success of his words, then confidence in his leadership is still lacking.

I think the movie takes place in 2007 or 2008, judging by the newspaper date, as well as this document in the movie that has been posted by another blogger, since the document says "January 2007". Apparently that one is a real document called "Development of Highly Sensitive Portable Hydrocarbon Sensors".
However, none of the things here are based off real news, since I couldn't find any original references of them.
